2022 Wedding Recap!

Wow, what an incredible year in the wedding world!! We are beyond grateful for all of the wonderful couples that we have helped to host the wedding of their dreams, all our current couples that we have met this year and started the planning process with and all our future couples that we are yet to meet! It has been a year filled with joy, love and celebration and was much needed for everyone.

As we reflect, we think about how special it is to do what we do as a venue. A wedding is so much more than just saying “I do” and having a party. It is the union of two souls, families and friends and is a weekend filled with special moments. Weddings start with the venue and we are always so honored when a couple chooses us as the foundation for their celebration.

We saw a few takes on trends and personal details from weddings this year that we absolutely loved and wanted to share them all in one fell swoop! Keep on reading to see them all!

Vintage Cars

What better way to enter your own wedding than in a grand vintage car?? Chantel and Cris did just that and they look incredibly classy in this vintage car. 10/10 recommend!

Florals with a Purpose

Flower Petal Cannons

One of our favorite details from this year are these gorgeous Azalea plants that were used for Kimberly and Brian’s wedding in May. They used them for décor for the ceremony and then took them home and planted them in their garden! What a remarkable way to repurpose the florals from their wedding. Then, to top it off, they had a flower petal cannon exit as they walked down the aisle! This was another great detail that was a fun time for friends and family, creative and made for a beautiful exit after saying I DO!

A Ballerina for the Ceremony

For the artistic couple, adding something unique to the ceremony such as a ballerina right before the bride or groom walks down the aisle is marvelous. Trust us, no one will be able to stop talking about it!

Wooden Arbor

Royal Digital Photography / Weddings by Vogue

One of the Mansion’s main features is a gorgeous black iron arbor, but we also have this beautiful wooden arbor available. When we see her, we certainly love her. This made for an amazing arbor for Nicole and Patrick’s May wedding!

Rainbow Florals

Ladies and Gentleman, rainbow florals are the vibe. I mean look at those vibrant colors?? Elly wanted a bright and colorful bouquet and Fleuressence Floral Design delivered just that. If you love this too, this is your sign to go for it, you will not be disappointed!

Different Bridesmaid’s Dresses

Joey Wharton Photography / Weddings by Vogue

Did someone say gold?? Courtney’s wedding party knocked it out of the park with their gold themed bridesmaids dresses. These fit them each perfectly and they all looked stunning! We love that Courtney did this, because this way each lady feels confident and when we all feel confident, it shows!

Bridal Gown!

Speaking of gowns, Ali Sue borrowed her wedding dress from one of her bridesmaids and it fit her PERFECTLY! She did not need any alterations and it meant so much to her that she was able to wear a dress from one of her closest friends. She made the right choice ~ this wedding dress is gorgeous!

Bridal Romper

We are not done with fashion yet! Jasmine went another direction with her first look and rocked it in this super cute bridal romper! Not to mention, she also went with a pop of green for her shoes. We adore this detail and thought it was such a fun way to do a first look and get some pictures while still waiting for Juwan to see her in her wedding dress when she actually walked down the aisle. Genius!

Burying the Bourbon

Burying the Bourbon is a southern wedding tradition where exactly one month before the wedding date, the couple will bury a bottle of bourbon upside down at their wedding venue and it will bring good weather on the wedding day and good fortune in the marriage. The couple will then unbury it and the tradition is to follow that up by taking a shot with the wedding party! We highly recommend this tradition for clear skies and a special moment with your close wedding party members!

Tolman Media / Good Vibes Garden
Classic Photographers / Flowers by Zoie

Fur babies are so important to our couples and on one of the most important days of their life, many of them want to sneak a couple photos in with their puppers. The perfect time to do this is before the ceremony if the couple has done a first look or during cocktail hour! Look at those smiles, we are in love!!

Family Traditions

Lorna and Terry’s family celebrate big events with Oyster Shooters and this is such a neat way to continue the tradition with something that is so special to their families! It is also a way for everyone at the wedding to feel close to the family and to the couple!

Story Books

Have you been to a wedding and you know the couple, but not much about their love story and how it all actually happened? Creating a story book or two is a playful and fun way to let your guests read all about it and to top it off, it gives them a good activity to enjoy during cocktail hour!

Mirrored Seating Chart

Seating charts are an easy way for guests to find their table quickly and for them to choose where they sit at that table. There are many ways to write a seating chart and why not on a mirror? This is a glamourous way to showcase your tables and guests names and adds more decoration to the cocktail hour space!

Dress Changes!

We LOVE a dress change whether it is for the first dance or grand exit! Either way, this gives brides a chance to change into something different and more comfortable on their wedding day and it is a trend that we hope is here to stay!

Custom Backdrops

Going with their Black, White and Gold theme, Emely and Al-Tarik handmade this awesome black backdrop and customized it to hold their neon sign to look like it was floating. It was epic and completed their reception look while also giving them a backdrop for these great photos!

Maci and Nathan had a similar idea and their families created this custom backdrop so that they could hang their neon sign, florals and greenery behind their sweetheart table.

Both designs came out flawlessly!

Fake Snow Grand Exit

Whole Heart Studio / Fleuressence Floral Design

This was the perfect way for Emily and Daniel to exit their winter wedding this January! The fake snow was biodegradable and popped against the night sky. They truly captured the winter wonderland theme!

Cold Sparks

Awesomesauce Photography / The Masters of the Ceremony

Last, but certainly not least, are cold sparks! Cold sparks are a newer wedding trend and they are worth the hype! Kristine and Zach used them for an awesome late night photoshoot, but other couples also use them as an addition to sparklers for their grand exits. No matter what, they definitely add some flare!

There you have it, some wedding trends and details from this year that we loved to see! We also wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who takes that time to read our blogs. We hope they inspire, educate and provide some guidance when wedding planning. We cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store for the wedding world!
